Ajman

The smallest of the seven emirates and is centrally located on the western coast of the UAE. Ajman has a pleasant blend of old and new, the simple and sophisticated. Ajman is located next to Sharjah and its Corniche boasts a fine sandy beach. It is composed of three sections. These sections are: Ajman City, Masfout region and Manama region.
The area of the Emirate of Ajman is about 460 Sq. Km. while the total area including the regional waters is about 600 Sq. Km. Ajman City is the capital of the Emirate and lies down at a small creek of 16 Km. length to the North East of Sharjah.


The Emirate of Ajman is situated on the coast of the Arabian Gulf , extending over a distance of 16 Km, between the emirates of Umm Al Quwain and Sharjah. The area of the emirate is 259 Square kilometers, equivalent to 0.3% of the country's total area, excluding the islands. The population was estimated to be 80,000 in 1992.

The town of Ajman , the capital of the emirate, lies on the coast of the Arabian Gulf . It comprises the Ruler's office, companies, banks and commercial markets. The Ajman city centre is a shopper's destination with about 50 international and local retail line shops to cater to a diverse range of tastes. The port of Ajman is located along a natural creek (Khor) which penetrates the town.

The souks of Ajman are renowned for their excellent bargains while the Ajman City Centre houses 50 local and international brands.
Ajman Fort is located in the centre of the city and is surrounded by the Ruler's Office, various companies, banks and commercial centres. Ajman's natural harbour is home to one the largest ship repairing companies while Ajman Port offers the best facilities for business, import and export, as well as an industrial free zone

Ajman


The smallest of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, Ajman has an area of just 260sqkms, and is located on the western coast of the Arabian Gulf, sharing a border with Sharhah, and just 10km from Dubai. In comparison with some of the larger emirates, Ajman has a peaceful, relaxed feel and is the perfect place for an antidote to city life. Most visitors to Ajman enter via Sharjah, arriving onto the cornice, with the fine sandy beach on one side an Ajman city on the other.

Attractions, other than relaxing on Ajman’s beaches or enjoying the comfort of the resort hotels, include:

Dhow Yard: Ajman is the world’s biggest boat building yard, and more specifically the world centre of dhow building. This yard builds both these traditional vessels and also speedboats.

Mowaihat: This archaeological site, situated on the outskirts of Ajman, has huge historical significance. Many of the finds from Mowaihat are on display at the Ajman Museum.

Ajman Souk: Well worth a visit is the Ajmna Souk, not just for the bargain shopping opportunities but also for its architecture.
